The president of Miss Grand International accused Philippine delegate Nikki de Moura of being unprofessional and impolite.
In a livestream that was screen-recorded by a TikTok user and shared by pageant pages on social media, Nawat Itsaragrisil claimed that the beauty queen immediately went backstage and packed up after the Top 20 candidates were announced.
Though she didn’t make the cut, Itsaragrisil said the 19-year-old and other candidates were still supposed to be part of a few segments leading to the coronation. Itsaragrisil noted they invested a lot of money and time “to make a good show,” but de Moura “doesn’t care” and is “not polite to everyone around her.”
“She (doesn’t) pay attention to others. She (doesn’t show) respect. She (doesn’t) have (a) responsibility,” Itsaragrisil said.
“Did you see her? If you see her, I (will) give you one million US (dollars),” he said, adding it’s “difficult to work with” de Moura, who only “did what she wanted.”
The Philippines has yet to win a Miss Grand International title.
The highest the country reached was first runner-up for Nicole Cordoves in 2016 and Samantha Bernardo in 2020.
De Moura has been modeling professionally since 2017. In 2021, she joined the international talent competition Supermodel Me Season 6, where she finished as first runner-up.
Aside from the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 title, de Moura holds the title of Miss Governor’s Cup South 2018 and Miss Teen Philippines 2019.
