After Nikki De Moura missed the chance to win the Miss Grand International crown this year, Filipino fans are doubtful about the competition’s credibility.
Recently, Nawat Itsaragrisil, head of the MGI organization, dropped some accusations and called Nikki “unprofessional.” He elaborated on some moments where Nikki allegedly exhibited disrespectful behavior towards the organizers, causing her to lose a spot in the pageant’s Top 20.
“She’s not polite to everyone around […] It’s difficult to work with her. It’s really difficult to cooperate. She did what she want. She don’t (sic) pay attention to others. She don’t respect,” Nawat strongly stated in the video.
Nawat also talked about how Nikki quickly left as soon as she discovered that she did not make it to the Top 20 finalists.
“Especially after not top 20, she quick back, pack, and go out from the backstage… Yes, this is the real story. You can see her after Top 20 on the stage? Did you see her, if you see her? I give you 1 million US dollar, it difficult to work with her,” the MGI head stated.
Although Nikki has no public response to Nawat’s statement, the 19-year-old beauty queen expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had helped and inspired her in her MGI stint.
“Even in the face of this heartache, I choose gratitude. […] This is not the end…. just the start of something greater, and I’m excited to see where life’s adventures will take me. Now, I stand before you, not as a part of the top 20, but as someone who gave her all,” Nikki wrote in her Instagram post dated October 26, 2023.
Meanwhile, most fans chose to still be supportive of Nikki amid allegations of her bad behavior during MGI. In a Facebook post, netizens did not receive the “real story” from Nawat well. Instead, they also called him “unprofessional” for disclosing such claims against a candidate who did not win his pageant.
Netizens accused the Miss Grand International of being a “cooking contest,” insinuating that there is no fair play during the competition. Someone in the comments section also pointed out that respect is earned and that Nikki deserved better.
