3 parts of a fish that contain the most t.o.xins—you should know as soon as possible

Fish dishes often appear on Vietnamese people's dinner tables, and are the top choice for daily diets. The nutrients in fish meat have a positive effect on human development and health.

Eating fish helps supplement omega 3 and essential vitamins for the body, helps strengthen the immune system, and is good for the heart. Below are the 3 parts of the fish that contain the most toxins.

1. Fish head

Fish live in water from birth, but in recent years, water pollution has been very serious, leading to many heavy metals and toxic substances hidden in the fish's living environment. These heavy metals and toxic substances will accumulate in the fish's body, producing methyl mercury.

These toxic substances, when entering the human body, will affect health. Results from a survey by the Nanjing City Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China) show that different parts of the same fish will have different levels of heavy metals and toxins. Of which, the fish head is the part that contains the highest mercury content, 15 times higher than the fish meat.

According to test reports, the mercury content in fish meat, fish eggs and fish skin is relatively low, basically below the limit. The fish head is a very difficult part to clean. If the fish head is not thoroughly cleaned, the methyl mercury in the fish head will enter the body and brain, endangering human health.

2. Fish organs

Internal organs are very susceptible to many types of bacteria and parasites, especially "fish gall". This part contains a lot of toxins. If the fish gall is punctured, it will not only make the fish meat bitter but also cause toxins from the gall to spread to the fish meat. Therefore, when eating fish, it is best not to eat the internal organs, and should be thrown away.

3. Fish eyes

Many people think that fish eyes contain a lot of nutrients, and eating a lot of fish eyes will be good for eye health. This is a misconception, the nutritional content of fish eyes is not high, and fish eyes even contain bacteria and parasites. Some fish have red eyes or white spots, which are most likely caused by bacteria and parasites.
