5 Ways to Clean Your Home with Lemon, from the Bathroom to the Baking Tray, Simple and Instantly Effective

With a rich vitamin C content, lemons not only boost immunity but also have antibacterial and deodorizing properties thanks to citric acid – a powerful natural cleanser. If you haven’t tried cleaning your home with lemons, now is the time to start.

Discover this effective, safe and non-toxic cleaning method:

1. Clean the kitchen sink and faucet

After cooking, the sink is where a lot of grease and bacteria accumulate. Julia suggests cutting a lemon in half, sprinkling some baking soda on the cut surface and scrubbing directly around the sink and faucet.

This mixture helps remove stubborn stains and disinfects effectively thanks to the combination of the acidity of the lemon and the mild abrasiveness of baking soda.

2. Remove limescale from the bathroom sink

If you live in an area with hard water, your sink and faucet are prone to white limescale (from calcium and magnesium). The citric acid in lemon will break down and dissolve limescale quickly. Use the same method as above: lemon + baking soda and scrub the area to be cleaned thoroughly.

3. Clean the glass shower door or shower curtain

Soap stains and water stains that have accumulated over time on the bathroom glass can be easily cleaned with a mixture of lemon and baking soda. After scrubbing, rinse with clean water and dry with a glass squeegee to prevent new water stains from forming.

If you use a fabric shower curtain, you can soak the curtain in warm water for 20 minutes, then rub lemon on the moldy area to remove mold. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

4. Clean a wooden cutting board

Lemon is also a great choice for cleaning a wooden cutting board. Sprinkle a little coarse salt on the cutting board, then rub half a lemon to remove bacteria and stains. After cleaning, Julia suggests applying a layer of coconut oil to the cutting board to moisturize and prevent cracking.

5. Deodorize and clean the oven

Put a tray of water and a few slices of lemon in the oven, turn on the temperature to 200°C for 20 minutes. The steam from the lemon will help soften and dissolve stubborn grease.

Then, use half a lemon combined with baking soda to scrub away stains in the oven – it’s quick, effective, and non-toxic.
