Don’t Ignore These 2 Warning Spots

Liver cancer is often called a "silent killer" because it typically shows few symptoms in its early stages. However, doctors warn that the body can sometimes send subtle signals — and two of them may appear on the outside of your body in the form of persistent itching.

While many people brush off these signs as common allergies or skin irritation, experts say these symptoms could be the liver’s way of sending a warning.

2 Spots That May Signal Trouble

1. Itching on the Palms

Chronic or unexplained itching on your palms may be more than just dry skin. It can be linked to a buildup of bile in the bloodstream — a sign that your liver isn't functioning properly.

2. Itching on the Soles of the Feet

This is another unusual area where persistent itchiness may point to a liver issue. It often occurs when liver function is impaired, and toxins are not being filtered out as they should be.

Why Does Liver Disease Cause Itching?

Liver-related itching is believed to be caused by a buildup of bile salts under the skin due to poor liver function. It’s especially common in those with chronic liver diseases, including hepatitis, fatty liver, and bile duct obstruction, and in some cases, may be an early warning sign of liver cancer.

Don’t Dismiss the Signs

Many people mistake these symptoms for harmless skin conditions or allergies and fail to seek medical advice. But if the itching is persistent, unexplained, or gets worse at night, it’s important to get checked — especially if you also have:

  • Fatigue

  • Unexplained weight loss

  • Yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice)

  • Loss of appetite
