Why Does Salt Water Make Them Appear?
One reason the phenomenon attracts so much attention online is that the larvae often become visible after strawberries are soaked in salt water.
Saltwater does not create the larvae. Instead, it may encourage hidden insects or larvae to leave the fruit, making them easier to see.
As a result, people who previously believed their strawberries were perfectly clean may suddenly discover tiny organisms emerging during the washing process.
This can create the impression that the saltwater caused the problem when, in reality, it simply revealed what was already present.
