Chapter 3: Warning Signs You Should Not Ignore
Many people experience a warning phase before blisters appear. This stage often includes tingling, itching, burning, or sensitivity around the affected area. Within a day or two, small blisters may develop and eventually rupture, forming crusts before healing.
In some cases, particularly during an initial outbreak, symptoms may include swollen lymph nodes, fever, body aches, or fatigue. These symptoms can make the condition feel similar to a viral illness.
Medical attention may be necessary if sores spread rapidly, fail to heal, involve the eyes, or occur in individuals with weakened immune systems. Early treatment can often reduce symptom severity and shorten recovery time.
