Sprinkle This Powder on Ginger to Prevent Sprouting for an Entire Year
It turns out that preserving ginger is as simple as this. Just sprinkle a handful of this powder, and you can store ginger for an entire year without it wilting or sprouting.

First, when you buy ginger, do not wash it. Instead, sun-dry it for two days to remove the dirt on the surface and dry the ginger's skin.
For comparison, the ginger on the left has been sun-dried for two days, while the one on the right has not. The ginger on the right has already started to deteriorate. After the surface of the ginger is dry, find a cardboard box with ventilation holes. Next, take some tissue paper and line the bottom of the box with it.
Then, sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on the tissue paper. The tissue paper absorbs moisture from the air, while the baking soda keeps the ginger dry.
As long as the ginger remains dry, it won’t shrink, rot, or sprout. Next, place the ginger on the tissue paper. Add another layer of ginger, followed by another layer of tissue paper. Sprinkle a bit more baking soda on the tissue paper, then layer more ginger on top. Finally, cover the ginger with another layer of tissue paper.

Since the cardboard box allows airflow, the ginger won’t rot or spoil. Close the lid of the box and store it in a cool, well-ventilated place. The ginger will stay fresh for up to half a year without going bad.
