The holes and teeth on scissors have special uses that many people do not know about

If you pay attention, you will see that some types of scissors will have a cutout and a serrated part (as shown in the picture). Not everyone pays attention to this part, even thinking that it is just for decoration. However, this special design has a special use. Let's find out.

Open the bottle cap of beer, soft drink

You can use the notch on the blade to open beer and soft drink bottles. Just put the notch on the bottle cap and turn it on.

Crab clip

You can use the serrated part of the scissors as a tool to clamp the crab claw to make it easier to break. Thus, you do not need to use the crab clamp tool.

The hard and sharp serrated design will make the crab shell easily break.

You can also use the serrated part of the scissors to open the lids of boxes and bottles more easily (as shown in the picture).

Simple way to sharpen scissors

Using sandpaper

If the scissors have been used for a long time and become dull, you can buy sandpaper to sharpen the scissors. Fold the sandpaper in half so that the rough side faces out. Note, to make the scissors have a smoother edge, you should use sandpaper with a fine grit of about 150-300 grit.

Then use the scissors to cut many times into the sandpaper. Cut until the sandpaper runs out.

Use a damp cloth to wipe along the blade of the scissors. Doing so will make your scissors sharper.

Using aluminum foil

If you don't have sandpaper, you can use aluminum foil instead. Take a piece of aluminum foil about 20-25 cm long and fold it many times lengthwise to create a thick, multi-layered stack of aluminum foil.

Next, use scissors to cut the foil into small pieces (about 20-30 cuts). Cut until you feel the scissors are sharp. Use a towel to wipe the blades and you're done.

Using a whetstone

You can also sharpen the blades of the scissors with a whetstone like you would a knife.

Place the rough side of the whetstone up. Add water to wet the whetstone.

If possible, remove the screw between the two blades to separate the two blades for easy sharpening.

Place the scissors on the sharpening stone so that the inner edge of the scissors is facing down at a 10-15 degree angle.

Then, grip the handle of the scissors and slide the scissors across the sharpening stone about 10-20 times. Do the same with the remaining scissors. Finally, screw the screws to reattach the two scissors blades and wash them.

Use a glass bottle or jar

Take an unused glass bottle. Extend the scissors to their full extent and cut around the glass bottle several times. Just use a little force so that the scissors glide across the glass. Do this about 10-15 times to test the sharpness of the scissors. If you need to sharpen them, continue cutting the jar with the scissors.

Then, use a damp cloth to clean the scissors blades and you're done.
