Tips for using air conditioning without worry
Nowadays, almost every household has an air conditioner to cope with the hot weather, especially during the summer. However, using the air conditioner incorrectly can lead to skyrocketing electricity bills and rapid breakdowns, costing thousands of dollars in repairs or even replacements. Therefore, here are some tips for using air conditioners effectively, so you can stay cool all day without spending much on electricity.
Ventilate the Room
Take advantage of the early morning when the air is still cool by opening the doors of the room to allow ventilation. Once the temperature starts rising, quickly close the doors and curtains to prevent heat from entering and accumulating. This way, turning on the air conditioner will cool the room faster, making it more comfortable without having to increase its power, which saves electricity.
Combine Air Conditioner and Electric Fan
Another way to prevent the air conditioner from overworking, and thus reducing electricity consumption, is to use a fan along with the air conditioner. This will help the room expel hot air quickly, allowing everyone to enjoy a cool breeze and save on the electricity bill at the end of the month.
Select the “Dry” Mode
Many people only focus on the on/off button and the temperature control on their air conditioners, but to get the most out of it, attention should be paid to other settings. Particularly, adjusting to the “Dry” mode, which is indicated by a water droplet symbol, can reduce the air conditioner's energy consumption by 10 times. Moreover, it helps prevent temperature shocks, as the room temperature won’t fall below 23°C and won’t fluctuate too much compared to the outside temperature. Just one small adjustment can bring many benefits.
Avoid Turning the Air Conditioner On and Off Frequently, and Don’t Forget to Turn Off the Circuit Breaker
Additionally, don’t think turning the air conditioner off for a while and then back on will save electricity. This is a mistake that not only wastes electricity but also causes the machine to break down faster. Each time the air conditioner is turned on, it requires a lot of energy to operate the cooling motors. Therefore, it's better to leave it on and turn it off about 30 minutes before leaving the house. Don’t forget to turn off the circuit breaker to avoid hidden power consumption.
