Police still don’t have leads on the disappearance of Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate Catherine Camilon, who was reported missing for almost a week already.
In an interview with Radyo 630, Tuy police chief Major Eugenio Napthali Solomon gave an update regarding the case of the beauty queen who was last seen on Oct. 12.
“As of now, wala pa tayong malinaw na lead. Hinahanapan natin, tinitignan nating ang lahat ng anggulo para matukoy natin kung nasaan si ma’am [Camilon],” Solomon said.
Camilon was still in touch with her mother Rosario until around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 13 before they completely lost contact.
She was reportedly traveling to Batangas City from her hometown Tuy for a meeting with an online media company where the beauty queen serves as a talent.
Solomon asserted that they have now sought the help of neighboring police stations in tracking down the whereabouts of Camilon.
“Inalarma na natin ang mga adjacent police stations pati sa ibang probinsya para kapag mayroon silang information ay makarating agad sa amin,” Solomon said.
Authorities are also looking into the car that Camilon used, a Nissan Juke with license plate number NEI 2990, as her family said that the vehicle wasn’t under her ownership.
“Tinutukoy pa natin ‘yung registered owner nitong sasakyan kasi according sa pamilya, hindi sa kanilang anak nakarehistro ‘yung pangalan. Tinutukoy pa natin ang owner para matunton natin sino mismong tao ang napagbilihan para malaman natin kung ito ay na-install-an ng GPS at matrack natin,” Solomon said.
Regarding the gasoline station in Bauan where Camilon was reportedly sighted, the police chief affirmed that they have already checked the area, but to no avail.
“Dalawa ‘yung Petron na pinuntahan namin. Unfortunately, ‘yung isang Petron doon ay hindi siya equipped ng CCTV [cameras] at doon naman sa [isa] ay hindi naman gumagana ‘yung kanilang CCTV. So nagfofollow-up pa rin kami,” he said.
Solomon called for concerned citizens to contact them and Camilon’s family if they have any information regarding her whereabouts.
The Tuy Municipal Station can be reached at 09673141790 while Camilon’s family can be contacted at 09158991931.
In an earlier interview on Radyo 630, Rosario asserted that her daughter always informs them of her whereabouts whenever she leaves the house.
When asked whether Camilon has a boyfriend that she possibly eloped with, Rosario said that it was unlikely as her daughter rarely left home and only communicated with her friends.
Camilon joined Miss Grand Philippines last July, during which Nikki De Moura of Cagayan de Oro won the crown. Aside from being a beauty queen, she is also a public school teacher in Tuy.
