Rendon Labador posts about Joey De Leon’s “lu.bid” con.trov.ersy

Rendon Labador took to Instagram to react to the controversy involving Joey De Leon’s “lubid” joke on the Gimme 5 segment on TV5’s noontime show “E.A.T.” The controversial moment involved Joey saying “Lubid, lubid. Nakakalimutan n’yo” when a contestant on the program asked about things that are hung around the neck.

After the scene went viral, many netizens called on MTRCB — currently headed by Lala Sotto, daughter of “E.A.T.” host Tito Sotto — to penalize the show for Joey’s joke. “It’s Showtime,” a rival show of “E.A.T.,” was recently suspended for 12 days due to an allegedly inappropriate icing-eating moment between real-life couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez. Rendon repeatedly lambasted Vice and Ion on social media. Later on, Rendon’s account was deleted on Facebook for allegedly violating community guidelines.

On Instagram, Rendon shared a supposed screenshot of the private messages from a fan of Vice Ganda who was initially bashing him for his criticism of “It’s Showtime” but is now asking him to also criticize Joey’s controversy on “E.A.T.”

“Nagalit kayo sa akin dahil idol ninyo ang sinita ko. Tapos lalapit din kayo para i-boses na maitama ang mali. Ako ang nag-iisang tao dito sa Pilipinas na nagsasabi ng mga katotohanan para maitama ang mga mali, galit pa kayo sa akin. Sino na ngayon ang may lakas ng loob pumuna sa mga yan? #LetRendonBack,” Rendon posted.

Rendon also sent a message to Joey, telling him to be grateful that he cannot criticize him on Facebook due to the suspension of his account.

“Joey, pasalamat ka wala na ako sa Facebook, nakalusot ka ngayon.”

In response to the public’s request, MTRCB released a statement regarding the scene, promising to investigate whether Joey violated “Presidential Decree No. 1986 and/or its Implementing Rules and Regulations.”

Joey de Leon is an iconic actor, comedian, and television host in the Philippines. He is a member of the comedy trio Tito, Vic and Joey that has made several comedy movies and TV shows. Joey is also best known for being a pioneer host of the longest-running noontime show in the country, “Eat Bulaga.” It premiered on July 30, 1979.

In a previous report by KAMI, Joey shared a new cryptic post on social media. On his Instagram page, Joey shared a photo of him with “Ellen of Hollywood.” Ellen is a character made using artificial intelligence who reminds the contestants of E.A.T.’s “Gimme 5: Laro ng Mga Henyo” about each round’s mechanics. In the caption, the comedian said Ellen was asked about her thoughts on television. According to Joey, Ellen jokingly answered, “Fakeapalan leng.”

In another post, the comedian talked about the title “Eat Bulaga” once again. According to Joey, he had fun creating the catchy title. The comedian also expressed his honest reaction that parties are battling for the title’s ownership. He also intriguingly expressed, “Happy problem? Abangan!”
