Sarah Lahbati still hasn’t directly confirmed her separation from husband Richard Gutierrez, but she admitted that they aren’t on speaking terms although they are co-parenting their kids.
Interviewed by MJ Marfori for News 5 Frontline, Lahbati affirmed that their priority right now is co-parenting their two sons.
“No,” she said, when asked whether she was on speaking terms with her estranged husband. “We’re good at parenting. We’re here for the kids. That’s all I’m gonna say.”
Asked how the kids are taking the setup, the “Starstruck” alumna underscored that their children would learn to live through it with the help of both parents.
“It’s not easy on any child but I’m here for them. They’re better. Of course, it’s not ideal for the children, let’s go back to the kids. But that’s life. They’ll be fine,” explained the actress.
In terms of facing negative comments from the public, Lahbati remarked that she’s not taking them seriously and just riding with them and laughing them off, especially the one about her “extravagant spending.”
“We have to take things lightly or else puputi buhok natin at hindi tayo magiging happy. Natutuwa ako sa lahat ng tumatawag sakin ng patron saint of waldas. As in natatawa ako. Every day may comment about it. Sinakyan ko ng konti,” she said.
Despite being hailed as “waldas queen” by the netizens, the “Hokus Pokus” actress affirmed she is good at spending money as she stressed she needs to provide for her loved ones.
“In reality, I’m very proud to say that I’m good at saving. I’m good at finances. I’m working hard to provide for my children, for myself and my parents,” said Lahbati.
In a past interview with Cosmopolitan Philippines, the “Lumuhod Ka sa Lupa” star said she and Gutierrez were okay and that she was focusing on feeling grateful for the blessings and working on her self-love journey.
The couple began to be hounded by breakup rumors after eagle-eyed fans spotted that they weren’t attending family gatherings together and when Gutierrez’s mother, Anabelle Rama, opened up in an interview that the two are now living separately and took a swipe at Lahbati’s alleged lavish spending.
