Netizens were baffled after seeing a photo of award-winning actor Eric Quizon in a dating group with more than 400,000 members on Facebook.
The online community had to take a double look after a Facebook user pretending to be Eric Quizon used a photo of the actor to introduce himself in the “Dating in USA” group.
“I’m from Manila Albay, Philippines/ But I live in New York, United States/ I’m new here.. hope I’m welcomed,” read the caption of the said post which has now garnered more than 90,000 reactions, as of Tuesday, January 30.
The Facebook user in question posted photos of the award-winning actor twice on the same day in the said Facebook group.
While some were left confused, others were able to point out that the “fake account” used the actor’s profile to trick members of the dating group.
One mused, “A celebrity? Sir Eric what are you doing here?”.
“Scammer alert..how could an actor [join] here when he can easily get a woman,” said a netizen.
“Is this for real? I think this is a scam someone using his photos. Eric Quizon is one of my favorite actors,” commented another.
Another quipped, “Must be fake. There’s no Manila Albay. This impostor using his picture doesn’t know Philippines.”
Several concerned netizens also reported the post and took to the actor’s official Instagram account to warn him of the fake account using his photos on the said group.
Eric, who’s the son of late King of Comedy Dolphy Quizon, has yet to comment on the matter.
