Sylvia Sanchez is one happy mom, as her daughter just got engaged!
ICYMI, wedding bells will soon be ringing for Ria Atayde and her now-fiancé Zanjoe Marudo. Ria shared the happy news on February 20, 2024. She captioned her post, “Forever sounds good,” and included the sweetest couple pics with Zanjoe.
As congratulations poured in for Ria and Zanjoe, Sylvia got candid and shared a ~private~ moment between her and the couple. She posted screenshots of what seemed to be a morning video call with Ria and Zanjoe, and it looked like it was the first time they told Sylvia about their engagement.
“My heart is overflowing with joy. Perfectly matched,” Sylvia wrote about her post. They all looked genuinely happy in the photos. In one pic, Ria can be seen flaunting her engagement ring while Zanjoe brightly smiles beside her.
Other screenshots show an excited and joyful Ria, while her parents are looking at her with much pride and happiness.
INSTAGRAM/SYLVIASANCHEZ_ARia and Zanjoe were first rumored to be a couple in 2022. Sylvia confirmed that the two were simply dating, as a response to rumors of her daughter’s alleged pregnancy and secret civil wedding back then.
“Kaya nga natatawa ako dun sa mga lumalabas na buntis, nagpakasal… Hello? Ako muna makaka-alam noh. Ako po nanay,” Sylvia said in an October 2022 interview.
But it was only in January 2023 that Zanjoe directly confirmed that he was dating Ria at the time.

By now, it’s not a secret that Sylvia is a loving mother-in-law. It became most evident when the whole Atayde family welcomed Maine Mendoza as Arjo Atayde‘s wife.
When Maine and Arjo got engaged, Sylvia had the *sweetest* message for Maine. “Finally!! Welcome to the family, Maine. Thank you for loving my son. Love you, ‘nak. I promise that I will take care [of you] and love you as my own daughter,” the veteran actress wrote in a post for her then-soon-to-be daughter-in-law.
Sylvia even threw a bridal shower for Maine, which included some of Maine’s close friends and of course the women of the Atayde fam. “Happy to welcome you to our big happy and crazy family. Soon!!! Mrs Maine Mendoza Atayde ka na. Can’t wait for the Big Day. Love you, my soon-to-be daughter-in-law #bridalshower #ataydememdoza,” Sylvia’s post read.
Of course, when Maine and Arjo tied the knot, Sylvia did not forget to write an endearing and heartfelt message for Maine. “You will surely enjoy the ride because now you’re one of us na,” she told Maine in a post. Such a sweet mother-in-law!
Now, with Zanjoe becoming a part of the Atayde family too, we’re sure he’ll also receive lots of love from Sylvia. Congratulations on your engagement, Ria and Zanjoe!
