‘Unbreak My Heart’ star Jodi Sta. Maria talks about reaching a wider audience with her latest family drama series airing on the Kapuso network.
Ever since her series Unbreak My Heart started airing on GMA-7 earlier this year, actress Jodi Sta. Maria admitted she did not consider how her acting would be received by fans of the Kapuso network.
“I think least ko na iniisip kung para kanino ko gagawin yung character na binubuo ko. I think for me as an actor, mas bubuohin ko muna siya depending on what the requirements of the script and story are. That’s why I do a lot of consultations with my directors and the creative team. And I also trust my directors ayon din sa nakikita nila. Kumbaga, para nasa sa isang pahina kami,” she said.
Even with the unfamiliar viewership, Jodi said she welcomed the opportunity to widen her audience through the show.
“I am also thankful to be able to do this series in partnership with GMA-7 sa totoo lang. Because I’ve been doing seryes and movies for ABS-CBN for the past 25 years. So I feel na ang mga manunuod ko are those people na loyal sa kapamilya network. But now I was given the chance to experience being with a different audience and also to leave my footprint sa mga tao na hindi pa nakakapanuod ng show or serye sa ABS-CBN na maaaring hindi rin nila ako kilala as an actor. So parang for me lang, the goal lang is to do what is required of me excellently. And just hope that they will appreciate it, as far as the audience is concerned,” she explained.
After working with Kapuso actors like Gabbi Garcia, Will Ashley, and Maey Bautista, Jodi said she is still very open with working with all kinds of stars in her future jobs.
“I don’t mind kung sino basta siyempre importante naman talaga pag sa trabaho yung professionalism ng makakasama mo and yung magiging magandang experience and memory para sa ‘yo. Yung pakikipagtrabaho at pakikipagsalamuha sa mga tao,” she said.
When it comes to collaborations onscreen Jodi shared her very sepcific qualifications with her fellow actors.
“Wala akong problema working with people in the business. Ang importante lang naman sa akin, as long as siniseryoso nila ang trabaho and they’re professional. Wala namang problema dun. Siguro yung gusto rin ako katrabaho di ba? Mahirap naman na ikaw lang ang may gusto katrabaho tapos siya ayaw ka niya katrabaho. Yun lang naman. Pero I really look forward talaga to working with different people. Kasi at the end of the day, there is something to glean from the experience eh or from that encounter. I’m really thankful to be blessed with giving actors,” she added.
