4 effective ways to ensure your home is free of cockroaches

Cockroaches typically live in places like sewers, garbage dumps, and they carry diseases when they crawl over food and drinks in your home. Additionally, cockroaches are gnawing insects that can also tear fabric items in your house.

Cockroaches are harmful insects that pose serious health risks to humans. They are vectors for a range of diseases, including diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, leprosy, plague, typhoid, polio, and more. They can also carry intestinal worm eggs, leading to allergic reactions, itching, skin inflammation, eyelid issues, and respiratory disorders, depending on the severity. For children with asthma, cockroaches are considered a major contributor to hospitalizations.

There are many ways to get rid of this concern. Here are some suggestions for you:

1. Repelling Cockroaches with Garlic

The pungent aroma of garlic is one of the reasons it can repel many types of insects, including cockroaches. You can place a bowl of garlic water or sprinkle garlic powder in areas where cockroaches are commonly seen to drive them away.

2. Onions

Cockroaches are particularly repelled by the strong smell of onions. Place a dish of sliced onions on top of your food storage cabinet, and the cockroaches will immediately leave. Additionally, onions can help slow down the spoilage of food.

3. Soap Water

Soap water is toxic to cockroaches. Simply spraying soap water on a cockroach or its nest will kill them quickly.

4. Orange Peel and Lemon Peel

Dry orange and lemon peels and place them in your pantry or kitchen cabinets, or burn dried peels. Your home will not only smell pleasant but also effectively repel cockroaches.

Effective Cockroach Control:

The best method for killing cockroaches is to choose an appropriate insecticide to eliminate them.

  • Use Cockroach Spray: Apply the insecticide to areas where cockroaches frequently travel and hide.

For the German cockroach, which is particularly difficult to eradicate, you can place cockroach bait directly into their hiding spots. Put a small amount of bait the size of a green bean in each spot, using their behavior of feeding on feces and dead cockroaches to target them. This method can be effective for up to three months and is safe for human health and the environment. It is highly effective in restaurants, hotels, and industrial kitchens where German cockroaches are common.
