5 types of fruit that help reduce the risk of cancer you should eat regularly

Fruits such as watermelon, apples, and oranges are recommended to be included in the daily diet because they are effective in preventing cancer.

Bananas

According to VnExpress citing Healthline, bananas are a beneficial supplement for people recovering from cancer. Bananas are not only easy to tolerate for those who have difficulty swallowing but are also a source of many essential nutrients, including vitamin B6, manganese, and vitamin C.

Because bananas are rich in potassium, they can help replenish electrolytes lost due to diarrhea or vomiting. This fruit also contains pectin, which may help reduce diarrhea and has been reported to support colon cancer prevention. However, experts note that further research is needed to determine whether the pectin found in bananas can slow cancer cell growth in humans.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit is rich in antioxidants such as lycopene, which has anti-cancer properties and may help reduce some side effects of cancer treatments. Research has also shown that grapefruit can increase blood flow to the brain, helping to calm the mind. However, grapefruit can interfere with certain medications, so cancer patients should consult their doctors before including grapefruit in their diet.

Watermelon and grapefruit are considered two highly effective cancer-preventing fruits.

Watermelon

Watermelon is not only delicious and refreshing but also provides many health benefits, especially cancer prevention. According to Thanh Niên citing a meta-analysis published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology, people who eat more watermelon may reduce their risk of colorectal cancer by up to 26%.

This protective effect is mainly due to the high antioxidant content of lycopene in watermelon. Lycopene has been proven to inhibit the growth of colorectal cancer cells by regulating the PI-3K signaling pathway, a crucial mechanism in cancer development.

Apples

Apples are rich in fiber, polyphenol antioxidants, and many other anti-inflammatory compounds. Some research evidence shows that eating more apples may reduce the risk of colorectal cancer by 25%.

This is because compounds in apples, especially in the peel, can inhibit the growth of cancer cells and promote apoptosis (cell death) of colorectal cancer cells.

Grapes

Grapes contain high amounts of resveratrol, particularly red grapes, which provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, help prevent cancer development, and protect cells from damage.
