7 Types of Foods That Don’t Spoil Easily: Safe to Eat Even After Expiration—Don’t Waste Them

In reality, not all foods labeled as “expired” need to be thrown away. Some can still maintain their quality and remain safe for consumption even after a long time.

Không chỉ giúp hỗ trợ tiêu hóa, bổ sung năng lượng tức thì và làm đẹp da, mật ong còn nổi tiếng với “tuổi thọ” gần như vô hạn.

1. Honey
Not only does honey aid digestion, provide instant energy, and enhance skin health, it is also famous for its almost “eternal shelf life.” Thanks to its extremely low water content and high levels of glucose and fructose, honey creates an environment that inhibits bacterial growth. When stored in a sealed jar in a dry place, honey can retain its quality for decades without spoiling.

2. White Liquor (Rice Wine/Spirits)
Good liquor is often said to be “the longer it ages, the better it tastes.” For liquors with an alcohol content above 10%, manufacturers don’t even need to print an expiration date. So if you still have an old bottle at home, don’t rush to throw it away—it may have reached its perfect flavor.

3. Table Salt
Although packaging may state a shelf life of 2–3 years, in reality, salt almost never deteriorates. With its natural antibacterial properties and high stability, salt can last indefinitely as long as it’s kept dry and free from moisture.

4. Soy Sauce & Rice Vinegar
Naturally fermented soy sauce or vinegar usually contains high levels of salt and acid, creating an environment that effectively prevents microbial growth. When sealed properly and stored in a cool place, they rarely ever spoil. (Note: this only applies to pure products without added preservatives or additives.)

5. Dried Tangerine Peel
With low moisture content and rich essential oils, dried tangerine peel not only keeps well but also becomes more valuable over time. The longer it’s stored, the stronger its medicinal properties and fragrance become.

6. Tea
Many types of tea—such as white tea, black tea, or Pu-erh tea—don’t have a definitive expiration date. In fact, when stored properly, they become more valuable and their flavor deepens with age.

7. Coffee
Properly roasted, dehydrated, and sealed coffee is very resistant to spoilage. Whole coffee beans are especially durable compared to ground coffee. If stored correctly, even “expired” coffee can still be safe to use.
