How to check if honey is real or fake
When buying honey, you can easily tell whether it is real or fake by simply flipping the bottle upside down. This is a very clever method!
Speaking of honey, most people have probably consumed it before, as honey is known for its high nutritional value and its many benefits for the body.
However, due to the increasing demand for honey, the market is gradually experiencing a supply shortage. At this point, some unscrupulous merchants start engaging in unethical practices to maximize their profits. Counterfeit honey has become quite common, and since the cost of producing honey is not low, the price of fake honey is also not cheap. The profit they can gain is highly satisfying. So, how can we tell whether the honey we buy is real or fake?
In fact, distinguishing real honey from fake honey is not difficult. Typically, honey bottles are transparent, and before buying honey, we can tell by shaking the bottle. Hold the honey bottle in your hand and shake it up and down three times. The honey inside the bottle will change according to the shaking force. When you turn the bottle upside down, air bubbles will form within the honey. We can differentiate real honey from fake honey by observing the bubbles: if the bubbles rise slowly from the bottom, it is real honey. Honey with such bubbles usually does not disappear quickly, and the process of the bubbles completely disappearing can take 1-2 hours. If there are no bubbles or if the bubbles disappear quickly, it is fake honey. If you encounter honey like this, you should not buy it!
In addition to this method, we can also use other techniques to judge whether honey is real or fake. For example, using a cup of water, we take a spoonful of honey and slowly drop it into the center of the water.
If the honey sinks to the bottom and does not easily dissolve, it is real honey. If it dissolves quickly in the water, it is farmed honey, which you should avoid.
Lastly, there is another way to check the crystallization level of honey: real honey will crystallize, and crystallization occurs when the temperature is below 14°C. When the temperature is above 20°C, the crystals will slowly melt back. The characteristic of raisins in honey is something that cannot be faked!
Therefore, when buying honey, the first method is to "shake the bottle three times" and then turn it upside down to easily distinguish real from fake honey. Then, by adding the other two methods, you should have no trouble identifying fake honey!
