New Thoughts on Denmark’s Ancient Hjortspring Boat

Feeling suspicious about his wife’s unusual behavior, a man decided to hire a private investigator to follow her.

Kevin Howard, a resident of Greenville, North Carolina, won a $750,000 lawsuit under the state's "alienation of affection" law, also known as the "homewrecker" law. This law, still in effect in some U.S. states, allows a spouse to sue a third party for intentionally interfering in a marriage.
Howard told CNN that he and his wife had been married for 12 years before she expressed a desire for separation. They attended several marriage counseling sessions, but Howard remained skeptical about her behavior.
Out of suspicion, Howard hired a private investigator, who uncovered that his wife was having an affair with a coworker—someone Howard had previously met.
"This man came to my house, had dinner with us. We shared stories about our lives," Howard recalled.
After discovering the affair, Howard took legal action against his wife’s lover. "I filed the lawsuit because I believe people need to understand the sacredness of marriage, especially in today's world, where moral values and responsibilities are often questioned," he stated.
1. Feeling Lonely
A woman's greatest fear is loneliness. If a husband fails to show care, is always busy with work, and neglects his wife, she may feel emotionally abandoned. Seeking companionship elsewhere becomes a temptation, leading some women to cheat.
2. Revenge
For some women, infidelity is an act of revenge. At this stage, it’s not about desire or attraction—it’s about retaliating against a husband who has betrayed them. They justify it with the mindset of "an eye for an eye."
3. Following a Trend
While not all women follow trends, societal changes have shifted perspectives on relationships and fidelity. Some women see friends engaging in affairs and enjoying the thrill, prompting them to try it for themselves. Once they do, it becomes difficult to stop. In some cases, societal trends have unknowingly led to the downfall of happy marriages.
4. Sexual Incompatibility with Husband
One of the most common excuses—whether from men or women—is, "We're not compatible in bed." But what defines compatibility? When someone is determined to cheat, they will find countless justifications. If a woman feels no joy or passion in her marital intimacy, she may seek another man who can fulfill her desires.
5. Craving Excitement
Sometimes, people seek novelty, even if what they already have is perfectly fine. The saying "familiarity breeds contempt" applies here—some women simply get bored and start craving something different. They might not even be looking for an affair, just a temporary escape, but once the line is crossed, there’s no turning back.
6. Attraction to Physical Beauty
Women have long been associated with beauty, but in modern times, they also value the attractiveness of men. Many women fantasize about Korean drama actors or idolize handsome celebrities. When they compare their husbands to these idealized figures, dissatisfaction grows. If they meet a more charming, well-groomed man, their attraction can spiral into an affair—starting as an innocent gaze, a phone number exchange, a casual date, and eventually, an intimate relationship.
In the end, infidelity—regardless of the reason—is still infidelity. And in many cases, it leads to the painful destruction of a once-happy family.
