The wrap-up interview for tvN’s “Queen of Tears” fell through. As a work that garnered high viewership ratings and topicality, the disappointment is growing even more.
“Queen of Tears” depicts the dizzying crisis and miraculous rekindling of love between Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won), a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun Woo (played by Kim Soo Hyun), the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri, and their three years of marriage. Ending with its 16th episode on April 28th, “Queen of Tears” is expected to surpass “Crash Landing on You” and rise to the top spot in tvN drama history in terms of viewership ratings. Episode 14, which aired on April 21st, recorded 21.6% (based on Nielsen Korea nationwide paid households), only a 0.1% difference from “Crash Landing on You”.
Not only has “Queen of Tears” consistently broken its own highest viewership rating every week, but according to the analysis results of Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex, it has also been the top in the TV-OTT comprehensive topicality category for seven consecutive weeks since its first broadcast. Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won have proven hot responses, ranking 1st and 2nd in overall topicality among actors every week since the drama’s airing.
Normally, after a drama becomes successful, reporters gather for a round interview with the cast after the finale. The interview status of the leads of “Queen of Tears” was also highly anticipated. However, Kim Ji Won and Kim Soo Hyun ultimately decided not to proceed after careful consideration.
Kim Ji Won’s agency explained to Ten Asia, “There are no filming schedules for the next work or personal engagements. There are some circumstances we cannot disclose.”
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency stated, “It’s not due to filming schedules for the next work. It’s because of various unavoidable schedules.” Kim Soo Hyun, who suffered from private life issues throughout the drama’s airing, appears to be cautious.
Currently, only Kim Kap Soo, Lee Joo Bin, Park Sung Hoon and Kwak Dong Yeon will participate in interviews for “Queen of Tears”. Kim Kap Soo and Lee Joo Bin have already met reporters, while Park Sung Hoon and Kwak Dong Yeon will participate in interviews on April 29th and 30th, respectively.
