L’Oréal USA has been recognized as a leader in creating an inclusive workplace by Seramount (formerly Working Mother Media) in its fifth annual Inclusion Index today. Across nearly 200 organizations, L’Oréal USA was among seven companies recognized for superior achievement as a Pinnacle Inclusion Index Company, which is defined as receiving a score of 80 percent or higher.
The aim of the Seramount Inclusion Index is to help organizations understand trends and gaps in demographic representation, create a road map to drive internal change, and identify diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) solutions to close the gaps. To be featured in the ranking, organizations provided data and were measured in three key areas: best practices in the recruitment, retention, and advancement of people from underrepresented groups—women, racial/ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ people; inclusive corporate culture, including leadership accountability; and demographic diversity for women and racial/ethnic minorities. Questions on how organizations are addressing racism were included in this year’s survey.
“At L’Oréal USA, we are consistently working to build an environment of equity, inclusion and belonging among our employee community. Our efforts to create such an atmosphere where every person feels empowered to thrive and grow is a crucial element to our success as a beauty industry leader. It’s an honor to be recognized for our efforts and we are eager to continue making significant strides,” said Angela Guy, L’Oréal USA’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer.
This year, 193 organizations applied to participate in the Seramount Inclusion Index (formerly known as the Diversity Best Practices Inclusion Index). Results reveal opportunities for all organizations to target their diversity and inclusion efforts for greater effectiveness.
“The need to address inclusion in the workplace continues to be a priority for corporate America,” says Katie Oertli Mooney, vice president of diversity best practices at Seramount. “Progress has been made, but we must remain steadfast in our efforts. We are proud to recognize our Inclusion Index companies for their dedication and for putting in the necessary work to effect real, sustainable change.”
