James Reid revealed that he is returning to acting.
In an interview with MJ Felipe for On Cue of ABS-CBN News, the actor-singer shared that he is currently in the early of stages of developing a film where he will be part of the cast.
“There is actually a project that I’m working on right now, very early stages of the concept but my plan is to be able to produce and star in a film for local release,” he shared.
When asked what inspired him to return to acting, James replied: “That was always my plan. I always said it, I want to go back [to acting] but for now I really want to focus on the music,’ and I felt like there was kind of a bit of a time limit on how long I can do music but for acting I knew I could do it my whole life.”
James admitted that he has missed acting, saying, “People tell me a lot that they missed just seeing me on the screen and watching [me on] film. I do too,” he said.
On what fans can expect from his upcoming movie project, James relayed: “The project will be very close to my heart, very close to what I’ve gone through both being in the industry and show business but also going through life the past few years as a musician so definitely there’s music involved.”
Aside from gearing up for his acting comeback, James also recently released a new single titled “Hurt Me Too.”
James relayed that he wrote this song three years ago when he was in Los Angeles and it’s the first time he wrote a heartbreak song.
“I really don’t write heartbreak songs. I never do. It’s not my personality but I worked with this one writer his name is Seth Regen and he really brought it out of me. Because I told him I don’t have a song like that,” he said.
On what was the inspiration behind the song, James revealed: “The song was inspired by a lot of different [things], not just breakups, but people who have left me in my life.”
He went on: “Sometimes you really do your best and you really give it your all but sometimes it’s just not enough and maybe it has to be that way. It’s sad, but you know at the end of the day things do end. And what I want to say to those people in my life is that I really tried my best and I hope you guys know that.”
“Hurt Me Too” was released under Sony Music Entertainment.
