There was a time when the girls were ashamed of it
“I was beginning to actually hate my hair and seeing it as a huge obstacle,” says Cipriana
“I didn’t have any creative freedom or creative control”
“So I quit modeling and decided to grow my hair natural again”
The girls embraced their natural looks
And people even started calling them the queens of natural hair
They gathered thousands of fans all over the world
The sisters, along with their friend Nikisha Brunson, now run a blog called “Urban Bush Babes”
They try to combat the stigma surrounding people who choose to rock their natural hair
“I think it came to a point where it was derogatory toward people who wore their hair natural,” says TK Wonder
“There was a certain stigma around people who wore their hair natural or in an afro”
“It was about breaking down stereotypes and derogatory perceptions that people had about natural hair”
The girls now embrace their stunning hair with confidence
And we could learn a lot from them
