Many homes do not pay attention to these aspects
To maintain a clean and comfortable living environment, many people spend time cleaning their homes every day. However, in life, there are objects and areas that, although they appear clean on the outside, actually contain a lot of bacteria and pose serious health risks. Here are four typical examples of things that seem clean but actually contain many hygiene problems.
Shower head
The shower is an indispensable device in the bathroom, serving daily bathing. However, because the shower head's drainage holes are very small, dirt and impurities easily accumulate over time and easily cause blockages. In the humid environment of the bathroom, bacteria also grow very easily.
This accumulation not only reduces the efficiency of water flow but can also pollute the water source. Bathing with water from a clogged shower can irritate the skin, leading to symptoms such as itching or allergies.
Shower Head Cleaning Tips:
You can use a descaling agent containing citric acid to clean the shower head. Citric acid has the ability to decompose and remove dirt, and also has the function of disinfecting and sterilizing.
First, prepare some warm water and add some citric acid to it. Soak the disassembled shower head in this solution for a few hours. After taking it out, you will see that the dirt and impurities have been removed. The sterilizing effect of citric acid helps to eliminate bacteria, making bathing safer.
Washing machine
Washing machines are essential appliances in many families, helping to save effort in doing laundry. However, washing machines can also accumulate dirt and impurities after each operation. With high humidity, bacteria and viruses can easily grow inside the washing machine.
Research shows that if the washing machine is not cleaned regularly, the number of bacteria can increase to a worrying level in just half a year. When washing clothes, bacteria and dirt from the washing machine can make clothes dirtier.
Washing machine cleaning tips:
You can use white vinegar and baking soda to clean the washing machine. White vinegar helps soften stains, disinfect and improve cleaning efficiency, while baking soda is a natural detergent that disinfects, deodorizes, and whitens.
First, soak a towel in white vinegar and put it in the washing machine. The acid in the vinegar will penetrate into the nooks and crannies of the washing machine, soften stains and kill bacteria. Next, add a small amount of baking soda to the washing machine and select the washing mode. After finishing, the waste water is discharged, making the washing machine cleaner.
Refrigerator
The refrigerator is an essential appliance in every family, used mainly to preserve food. Many people often only pay attention to cleaning the compartments inside but ignore an equally important part: the rubber gasket of the refrigerator.
Rubber gaskets that have not been cleaned for a long time and are in a humid environment can easily become a place for bacteria and mold to grow. The black spots that appear on the gasket are not ordinary dirt but mold, which can contaminate food in the refrigerator if not cleaned promptly.
Mold contains aflatoxin, a powerful carcinogen that is dangerous to health.
Tips for cleaning refrigerator rubber gaskets:
You can use alcohol and coca to clean rubber gaskets. Alcohol has a disinfecting effect, while the acid in coca can effectively dissolve mold.
Mix alcohol and coca in a 1:1 ratio, shake well to mix. Use gauze, face towel or wet towel to dip into this solution and carefully wipe each corner of the rubber gasket. To clean the gaps, you can wrap a card with gauze. After wiping, rinse with clean water to remove any residue from the cleaning solution.
Moldy cutting board
Cutting boards are often in contact with food and water, so they are susceptible to mold. To ensure hygiene, cutting boards should be replaced annually. Food residue left on cutting boards can produce aflatoxin, a carcinogen.
Many people do not pay attention to this and continue to use moldy cutting boards for many years, which is very dangerous.
Tips for cleaning cutting boards:
Sprinkle salt on the cutting board and rub vigorously for basic disinfection. Then, sprinkle baking soda to remove stains and pour in a little white vinegar to soften and disinfect completely.
Leave this mixture on the cutting board for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean water and let dry.
