6 "Taboos" in the Bedroom That Drain Wealth and Severely Harm Health
If your bedroom is violating these common feng shui mistakes, it's time to make a change.

The bedroom isn’t just a place to rest—it's a space to recharge your energy after a long day. However, not everyone pays attention to how their bedroom is arranged. Some seemingly harmless habits may quietly affect your sleep quality, mental well-being, and even long-term health.

To ensure your bedroom truly supports rest and renewal, here are 6 things to avoid in its layout and arrangement:

1. Bed Without a Solid Backing
A bed without a headboard or placed in the middle of the room, away from any wall, can create a sense of instability and insecurity. In feng shui, a bed lacking a “supporting back” symbolizes a lack of stability, which can lead to uneasiness and disturbed sleep.

If you don’t want or can’t install a fixed headboard, you can place the bed against a wall and use a cushioned headrest or a nightstand to create a sense of support.

2. Bed Head Against a Window or Facing the Door
The position of the bed significantly impacts your sleep. Placing the head of the bed against a window exposes you to light, noise, and drafts—not to mention a lack of privacy. If the bed faces directly toward the door, the constant energy flow can disrupt sleep and prevent deep relaxation.

Ideally, the bed’s headboard should be against a solid wall and not directly aligned with the door or placed under a window.

3. Clutter Stored Under the Bed
Many people use the space under their bed for storage—suitcases, off-season clothes, old books, etc. While convenient, this habit should be avoided. A cluttered under-bed area blocks airflow and creates a heavy, stagnant energy.

In feng shui, a clear space under the bed symbolizes openness and flow. From a health perspective, stored items can gather dust over time, affecting respiratory health.

4. Dark or Disturbing Artwork Above the Bed
Wall art adds character to a bedroom, but not all art is suitable for above the bed. Paintings with dark tones, abstract or gloomy imagery can create a heavy emotional atmosphere that affects your mood and sleep unconsciously.

Instead, choose calming images of nature, flowers, or soothing scenes with warm or neutral tones to enhance relaxation and comfort.

5. Too Many Electronic Devices in the Room
TVs, computers, Bluetooth speakers—even smartphones—often crowd our bedrooms, turning a restful space into a mini tech hub. Electromagnetic waves from these devices can disrupt sleep, increase stress, and interfere with relaxation.

Ideally, limit electronic devices in the bedroom. If you must keep your phone, place it away from the bed or switch it to airplane mode during sleep.

6. Too Many Plants in the Bedroom
While indoor plants purify the air and add beauty, having too many in the bedroom can be counterproductive. At night, plants release CO₂ during respiration, and an excess can reduce air quality.

Moreover, soil can retain moisture and attract mold or insects. If you want greenery in your bedroom, stick to 1–2 small pots and choose suitable plants like snake plant, aloe vera, or pothos.
