After using a kitchen kn.ife, it must be cleaned to remove oil and stains. However, moisture often remains on the surface even after washing. Placing a wet knife directly on a wooden cutting board can lead to mold, while prolonged exposure to moisture increases the risk of rust.
This is where the hole in the knife becomes useful—it allows you to easily hang the knife, facilitating quick drainage and preventing rust. Additionally, hanging the kn.ife keeps the kitchen clean and organized.
2. Removing Snail Tails
Snails are a delicious delicacy, but store-bought snails often raise concerns about hygiene and food safety. For this reason, many people prefer to buy fresh snails and cook them at home.
However, removing the snail tail can be challenging. Some people use scissors, but this method is time-consuming, requires effort, and may even hurt your fingers.
The hole in the kitchen knife serves as a convenient tool for this task. Simply insert the snail tail into the hole, then use another knife to tap the exposed end of the snail, making it easy to break and remove the tail.
3. Removing Seeds
During autumn and winter, many people enjoy cooking with red dates, which are highly nutritious, particularly for women.
However, red date seeds are hard and difficult to remove. Using scissors to c.ut them out often results in fruit pulp sticking to the seed, making the process time-consuming, messy, and wasteful.
Instead, you can use the hole in the kn.ife to remove the seed effortlessly. Simply place the red date on a cutting board and push the tip of the fruit through the hole. Then, pull the seed out by hand, leaving the date intact and ready to use.
4. Assisting with Meat Cho.pping
If you don’t have a meat grinder, cho.pping meat manually can be tiring. Meat cle.avers are usually heavy, and cho.pping for an extended period can cause wrist fatigue.
Here’s a clever trick: insert a chopstick through the hole in the kn.ife. Hold the kn.ife with one hand and the chopstick with the other. This technique provides better control and reduces strain, allowing you to ch.op meat continuously for up to 30 minutes without exhausting your wrist.
