People over 40 should practice these 3 morning habits immediately to avoid stroke

People over 40 should immediately adopt these 3 morning habits to prevent stroke:

1. Drink a glass of warm water (200–300ml) right after waking up

In the morning, after 6–8 hours of sleep, the blood is at its thickest because the body loses water through breathing and sweating, making it easier for blood clots to form. A glass of warm water (200–300ml) will:

  • Rehydrate quickly and dilute the blood

  • Stimulate blood circulation to the brain

  • Support the liver and kidneys in kick-starting detoxification

When waking up, stay in bed for another 3–5 minutes, take deep breaths, stretch your arms and legs, and then sit up slowly. Never sit up abruptly. (Illustration)

2. Wake up slowly, don’t jump up suddenly

Many people have the habit of getting up immediately when the alarm rings, but this can be dangerous. A sudden change in position can cause blood pressure to drop or spike, leading to dizziness, or even ruptured blood vessels in the brain.

Instead, remain lying down for 3–5 minutes, breathe deeply, stretch your limbs, and then sit up gradually.

According to the American Heart Association, 80% of strokes occur between 6 AM and noon, mostly due to sudden fluctuations in blood pressure in the early morning.

3. Do light exercise for 5 minutes: stretch, rotate your neck, walk around

No need for intense workouts—just stretching, joint rotations, or walking a few steps can help blood circulate better. These simple movements help to:

  • Increase nitric oxide (NO) secretion—a natural vasodilator

  • Reduce vascular spasms, preventing blood clots

  • Keep the brain alert and the mind refreshed to start the day

Harvard University recommends that just 30 minutes of daily physical activity can reduce cardiovascular risk by 27%. Morning exercises, in particular, help boost cerebral circulation and prevent blood clots.
