Simply washing mushrooms with water isn’t clean enough — add this and dirt will come off automatically

I will share a method of cleaning mushrooms that is more effective than just washing with plain water. This method includes the following steps:

1. Soak the mushrooms in warm water for about 10 minutes to loosen dirt, allowing it to sink to the bottom.

2. Gently rub the mushrooms by hand to remove any remaining dirt.

3. Sprinkle a little baking soda onto the mushrooms and gently scrub, especially in the folds. Then place the mushrooms into a bowl, add water, and stir gently by hand. Soak the mushrooms in the baking soda solution for about 10 minutes to remove dirt and any small insects.

4. Transfer the mushrooms to another bowl, add water, and a few drops of sesame oil. Let them soak for 2 minutes; the oil helps pull out any remaining dirt.

5. Rinse the mushrooms thoroughly and drain them before cooking.

This method relies on the cleaning properties of baking soda and sesame oil.
Baking soda, a mild alkaline substance, is commonly used for cleaning food and kitchen utensils.
Sesame oil can help attract and lift dirt and residue from the surface of the mushrooms.

However, it's important to note that using sesame oil might leave a scent or slightly alter the flavor of the dish if not rinsed thoroughly.

This method can be useful for cleaning mushrooms, but you should test and adjust it based on your own taste and preferences.
