4 tips to peel garlic quickly and without getting the smell on your hands

1.  Shaking Method

Separate the garlic cloves and put them into a container. Close the lid and shake it vigorously for about 1 minute. After opening the lid, you will find some of the garlic skins peeling off on their own. The remaining skins can be peeled off easily. This method works best for dry garlic bulbs with no moisture in the skin.

2.  Soak in Water Before Peeling

Another method to make peeling garlic easier is by soaking the garlic in water.
Separate each clove and soak it in a bowl of clean water for about 10 minutes. Once the skins soften, you can easily peel them off by gently removing the skin.
This method works great when you need to peel a large amount of garlic, as it's easy and won't leave garlic odor on your hands.

3.  Lightly Crush the Garlic

This is a widely used method that works very well. Simply place the garlic clove on a cutting board and gently press down with a kn.ife or crush it lightly until the skin cracks. This will make the garlic easier to peel. This method is ideal when you need to chop or crush the garlic immediately after. Additionally, larger cloves will peel and separate more easily than smaller ones using this method.

4.  Microwave Method

You can separate each garlic clove and place them in a plate. Put the plate in the microwave on low heat for about 15-20 seconds.
After microwaving, gently squeeze both ends of the clove, and the skin will peel off quickly and easily.

How to choose fresh and good garlic

When selecting garlic, choose bulbs that are intact and complete in shape. Avoid garlic bulbs with cracks, dark spots, or dents.

Check the top of the garlic bulb to see if it is mature or not. If the cut end of the bulb has many layers of skin and no holes, it means the garlic was harvested early and may not have reached optimal flavor. Conversely, if the stem of the bulb has thin skin and holes, the garlic is mature and will have a delicious flavor.

Choose garlic bulbs that are firm and plump with intact outer skins. Press the garlic bulb gently to test its firmness. Avoid soft bulbs that are prone to bruising.

Select bulbs that still have roots, as this helps the garlic maintain its moisture and nutrients better than those with cut roots.
