Why do many foreigners hang their clothes upside down?
The habit of most Vietnamese people is to hang clothes on hangers to dry from top to bottom, which is the same direction as we wear them.
Meanwhile, foreigners have the habit of hanging clothes upside down when drying some types of clothes, especially jeans, khakis, and t-shirts.
This "reverse" drying style helps clothes drain water quickly and dry faster. This drying method requires using clips to clip clothes to the line - drying rack, so the clothes are fixed in one position, not afraid of flying away in case of strong wind.
Another reason is that with this method of using clips on the line, the clothes are spread out evenly, not pushed together like when drying with hangers, the clothes are spread out so they dry faster.
Why do many people turn their clothes inside out when drying?
Many people have the habit of turning their clothes inside out when drying to dry them quickly, but in fact this habit also has disadvantages. The inside of clothes is in direct contact with our skin when worn. If you turn them inside out to dry, this inside is very susceptible to bacteria and dirt, which can cause allergies and itching for the wearer.
In addition, during the season when bugs and insects breed or when families raise dogs and cats during their shedding season, insects and animal hair can easily stick to the inside of clothes, causing harm to the skin, especially for children.
Therefore, you should not turn clothes inside out when drying, just dry them in a dry, airy place, then the clothes can still be clean, fragrant and safer for your skin.
However, if your clothes are made from some special materials such as silk, cashmere, wool, cotton with lighter colors and denim that fades easily, you should turn them inside out to dry after washing. Hot weather and high temperatures will cause clothes made from these materials to fade quickly.
Note, you should not dry clothes in the sun for too long to avoid the fabric fading quickly. Before bringing clothes into the house, you should shake them 1-2 times to remove dust before storing.
