Three Gattefossé cosmetic ingredients now labelled ERI 360°

The French supplier of cosmetic ingredients has obtained the ERI 360° label for the reduced environmental impact of three of its main cosmetic ingredients.

This label, created in 2018 by cosmetics industry players and developed by Innov’Alliance (the cluster resulting from the merger of Terralia and PASS), enables the entire life cycle of a product to be assessed from its origin through to its launch to market.

ERI 360° combines a set of tools and indicators to evaluate the sustainability and degree of eco-friendliness of an ingredient. The standard analyses the entire value chain, from the cultivation and harvesting of the plant, through processing until the ingredient exits the factory. There are three levels of certification, bronze for a score between 75 and 85/100, silver for between 85 and 95/100, and gold for a score above 95/100. Since its creation, 30 ingredients have been labelled ERI 360°, of which only two have obtained the gold label.

Gattefossé scoops the label for three ingredients

Gattefossé has audited three of its cosmetic ingredients with the ERI 360° label:

Gatuline Link’n Lift was awarded with the silver label. It is an anti-ageing active ingredient, derived from the horse chestnut flower, an ingredient rich in active molecules present in this flower, it targets wrinkles around the eyes.  Gatuline Renew was also awarded a silver label. It is a natural extract of selected Japanese cedar buds, containing energetic phytochemicals that stimulate skin renewal. The skin is visibly more hydrated, softer and smoother.  EnergiNius, which was awarded the bronze label. This active ingredient is obtained from the roots of Indian Ginseng (Withania somnifera) plant and is extracted using the NaDES technology. It protects skin cells from the visible light emitted by screens and from the environmental stress induced by our modern lifestyles.

The beauty industry has high expectations on sustainability and eco-responsibility, and we, at Gattefossé, share the commitment of our customers to provide ingredients that are constantly in progress in this area. We intend to pursue the ERI 360° certification for other products in the coming months,” explains Paula Lennon, Group Director Personal Care.
