Accidentally add too much salt
Accidentally adding too much salt to a dish is something that housewives often do. Some of the following ways to fix salty soup can help you feel more secure when cooking.
1. Add egg whites:
Egg whites are a common ingredient in every family's kitchen, moreover, they help women fix the salty taste of soup very effectively.
Here's how to do it:
- Add a raw egg white to the pot of soup, bring the soup to a boil again. The cooked egg white will then fluff up and absorb the excess salt, making the soup less bland. Then, if you don't want eggs in the soup, use a ladle to remove the egg whites.
- With bone soup or mixed soup, use a slotted ladle to remove the "stuff" in the soup, then add the egg whites, boil for 15 minutes. Then, remove all the eggs floating on the surface of the soup and add the "stuff" back in and boil again until you eat. This method will help reduce the saltiness of the soup and remove the ripples of egg whites.
2. Add lemon or vinegar:
Squeeze a little lemon or add a few drops of vinegar to the salty soup. Just a small amount of rice vinegar or lemon juice will neutralize the saltiness of the soup.
Note: Do not add too much lemon or vinegar because it will affect the flavor of the soup.
3. In addition, you can also apply some of the following ways to reduce saltiness in the soup:
Potatoes will absorb excess salt without spoiling the flavor of the soup.
For dishes with dairy ingredients such as cheese, fresh cream, and fatty curry, reduce their saltiness by adding unsweetened yogurt.
If after using one of the above methods, the soup is still not significantly less salty, you should resort to adding water to the soup. In fact, adding water will make the soup thinner and no longer delicious.
