And yet, it’s only now that I know
1. Vinegar can clean white clothes
To lighten stains on white clothes, there is a simple trick. Mix 50% vinegar and 50% water and apply to the stain.
After a while, wash with laundry soap and water. Note that it is better not to put the clothes in the dryer until you see the stain has been removed.
2. Vinegar can help reduce fading
Some detergents bond with fabric fibers. Over time, detergent builds up on the fabric and a lot of residue in the fibers causes fading. And the acid in white vinegar will clean the fabrics that have this buildup, making them look brighter. So vinegar not only keeps the color from fading, but also removes detergent residue that has settled in the fabric.
Add half a cup (118.3 ml) of vinegar to each wash to prevent fading (but be careful, this does not work on all fabrics). Vinegar can restore dull colors due to the alkalinity in laundry detergents, which is why many people believe it prevents fading and bleeding.
Although vinegar contains acetic acid, it can cause fading of fabrics made of silk, acetate, rayon, or triacetate.
3. Vinegar helps remove pet hair
Pet hair is also something that white vinegar can help you combat, vinegar works to reduce static cling and therefore pet hair will fall off clothes.
Add white vinegar to the dryer, simply spray the vinegar on a clean cloth or any other clothing. Then put the clothes in the dryer, this will keep static electricity to a minimum.
4. Vinegar helps deodorize clothes
An easy way to treat smelly clothes and kill bacteria on them is to soak them in vinegar diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio for 30 minutes.
Remember that it is most effective if you do it right after you take off your clothes. You can also add a little baking soda or even lemon juice to the water, but remember not to do this if your laundry detergent contains bleach.
5. Vinegar can be a good substitute for fabric softener
If you want your laundry to be softer, use 1 cup of distilled white vinegar and add it to the washing machine. But it should be added when the laundry reaches the final rinse cycle.
This is a very simple but effective natural fabric softener. However, make sure that you can use vinegar with your washing machine.
6. Vinegar can make cleaning your washing machine easier
We all know that washing machines need cleaning too. Excess soap can build up there and eventually stick to your clothes.
In addition, the washing machine can have residue and mold. Vinegar can be a great help in freshening up the inside of your machine.
Pour a cup of liquid instead of regular detergent and run a normal wash cycle but without any clothes.
