Restoring the Non-Stick Coating of Your Pan Is Easy with These Simple and Effective Tips

Here are some methods to revive the non-stick coating of your pan:

Using Sea Salt

Sea salt not only cleans but also helps rejuvenate the non-stick surface. Sprinkle a thick layer of sea salt onto the pan and heat it for a few minutes. Once the pan cools down, use a soft cloth to wipe off the salt. This method removes grime and leaves the surface cleaner.

Using Cooking Oil or Coconut Oil

Cooking oil or coconut oil can restore the natural non-stick layer. After cleaning the pan, pour a small amount of oil onto it and spread it evenly using a paper towel. Heat the pan on medium for about 10 minutes, then allow it to cool naturally. The heat helps the oil absorb into the pan's surface, creating a more effective non-stick layer.

Restoring the Non-Stick Coating with White Vinegar

White vinegar is an excellent natural cleaner. Mix white vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio, bring the solution to a boil in the pan for a few minutes, and let it cool. The vinegar helps remove stubborn residue and restores the pan's smooth surface. Rinse and dry the pan afterward.

Using Vinegar and Baking Soda

A combination of vinegar and baking soda can tackle tough grime and restore the non-stick layer. Pour one cup of white vinegar into the pan, heat it gently, and then add two tablespoons of baking soda. The mixture will fizz, helping to clean away grease and stubborn stains. Once cooled, rinse the pan with clean water.

Using Potatoes to Restore the Non-Stick Coating

Instead of buying a new pan, try using a potato to restore its non-stick surface. Cut a potato in half and use the cut side to rub the pan’s surface.

Sprinkle a small amount of sea salt onto the cut side of the potato, then gently scrub the pan’s interior in circular motions. Ensure you cover the entire area. After scrubbing, pour a little cooking oil into the pan and use a paper towel or soft cloth to spread it evenly. This creates a new protective layer for your pan.

Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Non-Stick Pan Like New

To prolong the life of your pan:

Avoid using metal utensils while cooking.
Don’t leave an empty pan on high heat.
Refrain from using harsh detergents or abrasive scrubbers.

To maintain the non-stick surface, regularly condition your pan with cooking oil. After washing, dry the pan thoroughly and apply a thin layer of oil to the surface. This helps protect the non-stick coating and ensures your pan remains durable.
