Add a few drops of this to fresh shrimp, it can be preserved for a month and still have firm meat, sweet and fragrant
Shrimp is a type of seafood with high nutritional value, can be processed into many attractive dishes, delicious flavor, good for health. Many people today have the habit of buying a certain amount of shrimp and then storing it in the refrigerator for later use. To preserve shrimp and keep the shrimp fresh, you can apply the following tips.
How to preserve shrimp:
- Preserve shrimp with beer
When buying shrimp, you can remove the black thread on the back and the waste bag on the head of the shrimp. These are the parts that contain many impurities and bacteria. To preserve shrimp for a long time, you should remove those parts.
Put the pre-processed shrimp in a basin and pour in beer to wash. Beer contains alcohol that both removes the fishy smell of shrimp and helps prevent bacteria from growing.
After washing the shrimp with beer, take the shrimp out and use a clean towel to absorb all the water on the shrimp. The shrimp should be completely dry to limit ice forming around them, causing the shrimp to stick together. Arrange the shrimp in a box, cover tightly and store in the freezer or refrigerator. You should divide the shrimp into portions just enough for one use, store in different boxes for easy defrosting and processing.
- Preserve shrimp with sugar
Remove the black thread on the back and the waste bag on the head of the purchased shrimp. Then, rinse with clean water (or salt water), pat dry.
Arrange the shrimp in a box, sprinkle a little sugar on each layer of shrimp. Do this until the box is full.
Preserving shrimp with sugar will help the shrimp stay fresh longer, preventing the shrimp from turning black and losing water.
- Use plastic bags or zip bags
The purchased shrimp does not need to be washed, just drained. Divide the shrimp into portions just enough for one meal. Put the shrimp in each small bag, squeeze out all the air and tie the bag tightly. Put the shrimp in the freezer. When needed, take out each bag of shrimp to defrost.
- Preserve shrimp with salt
After buying shrimp, process it to remove all the waste on the head and the black line on the back. Then, put the shrimp in a box, sprinkle salt on it, cover the box and shake well. Put the shrimp box in the freezer. This way, you can keep the freshness of the shrimp for 2 weeks.
Notes when preserving shrimp
When you need to process it, you can take the shrimp from the freezer to the refrigerator for a few hours to defrost slowly, limit bacteria from entering, and keep the flavor of the shrimp intact.
If you need to defrost quickly, you can pour water directly on the shrimp to melt the ice faster.
Defrosted shrimp need to be processed immediately to ensure flavor and quality. If you don't have time to process it, you can soak the shrimp in a basin of ice water to keep the shrimp cold, limiting bacteria growth. However, do not soak the shrimp for too long.
