Dropping a burning match into the toilet: A great use every home needs

Toilets and sewers that have not been cleaned for a long time will cause unpleasant odors, affecting human health. The problem of toilet odors seems complicated but is quickly solved in an unexpected way, which is a match. Especially for families with poorly ventilated toilets, where air circulation with the outside is difficult, try and feel the effectiveness it brings.

1. Deodorize toilets with matches

During the process of people going to the toilet, methyl mercaptan gas will be created. This gas brings an unpleasant feeling, pollutes the air and leaves a lingering odor. Meanwhile, matches contain sulfur. When burning a match, sulfur dioxide gas will be created, which will immediately overwhelm the smell of methyl mercaptan.

Therefore, after going to the toilet, burning a match will immediately eliminate the odor. However, be careful with the drains, do not throw half-burned matches down the drain because methane gas may exist under the drains. When exposed to fire, this gas can easily ignite, which can cause unpredictable consequences.

2. Deodorize the toilet with ice cubes

Many people think that this method is very unreasonable because they think that pouring a large amount of ice cubes down the toilet will clog the drain. But in fact, the opposite is true, this method is simple, cheap and highly effective.

When pouring ice cubes down the toilet and flushing the water strongly, the ice will be washed away, and with its great gravity, it will create strong pressure to push down below. Therefore, it will wash away the blockage below into the septic tank. In addition, ice cubes immediately cool the ammonia gas in the urine. When the ice is completely melted, it will dilute the urine solution, thereby causing the smell to evaporate very quickly. Ice cubes also make it impossible for bacteria to survive, so the antibacterial effect is extremely good. So this is a new and highly effective solution that should be applied when the toilet is clogged and causes odor.

3. Deodorize the toilet with baking soda, salt, lemon

This is probably the most well-known method. You just need to use a mixture of salt, lemon and baking soda mixed with a little water. Then pour it directly into the toilet and wait about 5 to 10 minutes, then flush the water so that the mixture carries away the dirt and odor with the water. This method will both disinfect, remove the plaque around the toilet and deodorize extremely effectively. After use, the scent of lemon essential oil will waft, bringing a more pleasant feeling for the next time you go to the toilet.

In case your house does not have baking soda. Simply use fresh lemon, a little salt and water, which is also effective. Blend this mixture and pour it into the toilet. Wait a while and then flush the water to deodorize very effectively.

4. Deodorize the toilet with an old sock and soap

This method is extremely simple, you only need an old sock and a scented soap. You put the soap bar inside the sock. Tie the sock tightly and put it inside the toilet lid. The soap will slowly dissolve and dilute into the flushing water. When you press the button, this amount of water will clean the toilet and leave a long-lasting scent.

Doing this will keep the toilet always bright white, you don't even need to wipe the toilet back often. It saves cleaning time and ensures a long-lasting scent. Choose soap bars with your favorite scent to make the bathroom space more ideal.

5. Deodorize the toilet with vinegar

White vinegar is a common ingredient, available in every kitchen and has many unexpected uses. Pour pure vinegar directly into the toilet. After about 30 minutes, flush the water so that the vinegar washes away the stains and odors inside the toilet. This method is fast and effective and does not take much time. However, for those who do not like the smell of vinegar, it is recommended to combine it with lemon essential oil or perfume to remove the sour vinegar smell.

6. Deodorize the toilet with specialized solutions

Plaque in the toilet also creates a bad smell. The residual gas smell after going to the toilet also remains inside the toilet lid. If the above methods still cannot meet the needs of cleaning the toilet, you must use specialized toilet cleaning solutions. They will treat plaque and deodorize the best, but you must use specialized gloves and a mask when using them.
