How to Repel an Entire Rat Colony Using Just a Handful of Rice, Without Using Har.mful Poi.sons

Rats are creatures that cause many problems for human life. They gnaw on food, household items, and can spread dangerous infectious diseases. Rats reproduce rapidly, and their numbers can increase dramatically in a short amount of time.

To repel rats, most households use traps or rat poi.son. While traps may work initially, many people find that they lose their effectiveness as the rats become aware of the danger and become more cautious. Rat poison is effective in ki.lling rats but is dangerous because it could lead to accidents if small children or pets ingest it.

In addition to the two methods above, you can use natural ingredients to repel rats. These are safer alternatives that still yield good results.

How to Repel Rats Using Rice

You will need:

  • A small handful of rice
  • 1 tablespoon of cement
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  1. First, place the rice in a pan and toast it evenly until it releases a fragrant aroma and turns golden.
  2. Pour the rice into a bowl and let it cool. Then, add one tablespoon of sesame oil and one tablespoon of cement to the rice and mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture into small portions and place them in small bowls, placing them in areas where rats are likely to pass through, such as the kitchen, under furniture, or under the bed.

The toasted rice and sesame oil have a fragrant smell that can attract rats. They will come to the rice thinking it’s food. After consuming the rice, the cement will absorb all the moisture in the rats' intestines. After a while, the cement will harden, making the rats feel full, causing them to stop eating and eventually die.

In addition to toasted rice, you can also use leftover rice, flour, or cornmeal mixed with cement and sesame oil to effectively repel rats.

Other Ways to Repel Rats

  • Using Laundry Powder
You can mix leftover rice with a little laundry powder and pepper. Place this mixture in areas where rats are often seen. When they smell the mixture, they will flee.

  • Using Vinegar
Vinegar can also help repel rats. Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and place it in areas where rats tend to go. When they smell the vinegar, they will be deterred from entering the area. Once the cotton ball loses its vinegar scent, replace it with a fresh one to maintain effectiveness.

  • Using Chili Powder
Sprinkling chili powder around the house or in places where rats frequent is an effective and simple way to repel them.

Alternatively, you can grind the chili and mix it with cooking oil in a 2:1 ratio. Add a few drops of dishwashing detergent and some water. After stirring well, strain the mixture and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray this solution in areas where rats often pass by.
