Here are five kidney-friendly breakfasts.

1. Whole Oatmeal Porridge
Oats are rich in the soluble fiber beta-glucan, which helps lower cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar, and support the digestive system.
Beta-glucan also has mild anti-inflammatory properties, helping to protect kidney tissue from damage caused by oxidative stress, a common factor in chronic kidney disease.
Oats are moderately high in potassium and phosphorus, making them suitable for people at risk of kidney disease when prepared without sugar or dairy.
Use rolled oats cooked with nut milk (such as unsweetened almonds), add chia seeds, and a few blueberries - a fruit that contains anthocyanins that are beneficial for the kidneys.
2. Boiled eggs
Protein is essential for maintaining muscle mass and immune function, but for people with weak kidneys, choosing protein sources low in phosphorus and sodium is very important.
People with kidney disease should limit egg yolks (high in cholesterol and phosphorus), prioritize eating 1 boiled egg for breakfast 2-3 times/week.
3. Whole wheat bread with avocado
Whole wheat bread provides complex carbohydrates that help keep you full for a long time, while also containing insoluble fiber that helps eliminate toxins through the intestines, reducing the burden on the kidneys.
When combined with a little avocado, a fruit rich in monounsaturated fats, natural potassium and vitamin E - this dish helps fight inflammation and regulate blood pressure.
People with late-stage kidney disease need to check their blood potassium levels to adjust the appropriate amount of avocado.
4. Blueberry smoothie
Blueberries are one of the fruits with the highest content of anthocyanin antioxidants, which help reduce inflammation, protect microvessels in the kidneys and limit cell damage.
Consuming blueberries every day helps improve the glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in middle-aged people at risk of kidney disease.

5. Boiled sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes are rich in fiber and have the ability to absorb heavy metals in the intestines, reducing toxins filtered through the kidneys.
Although high in potassium, sweet potatoes can still be suitable for people with stable kidney function thanks to the resistant starch content that helps stabilize blood sugar and blood pressure.
Sweet potatoes should be boiled or steamed, avoid frying or eating with salt to reduce sodium pressure on the kidneys.
