Many people believe that eating lots of carrots reduces myopia
Can eating carrots every day improve myopia?
According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), an organization that has funded and promoted many studies on eye health, carrots are good for the eyes because they contain vitamin A, which helps protect your eyes.
Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the liver when entering the body. This type of vitamin A has been shown to be good for eyesight. Many studies have shown that beta-carotene in carrots helps protect the eyes from macular degeneration and cataracts due to old age.
If you want healthy eyes, you should eat these 10 foods
Studies show that carrots contain a lot of vitamin C and beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A, which when absorbed in the body will be converted into vitamin A, which is very good for the retina and improves vision, strengthens eye health, reduces blurred vision, and eye fatigue.
Lutein and zeaxanthin found in carrots also help improve eye health. However, carrots should only be eaten in moderation. Eating too much can cause jaundice and liver poisoning. It is recommended to only eat or drink carrot juice 2-3 times a week, with a weight of 100g/time for adults and only 30-50g/time for children.
In fact, a cup of raw, sliced carrots will provide you with more than 110% of your daily value of vitamin A. According to the AAO, although these nutrients support eye health, they will not reverse or improve the effects of nearsightedness or other refractive errors or vision conditions.
Carrots are good for eye health.
Nearsightedness occurs when the eyeball is too long or the cornea of the eye is too curved. As a result, light is not focused properly when entering the eye, so distant objects may appear blurry. In myopic eyes, the eyeball axis is elongated, the eye is elongated along the front and back axis, sometimes even larger in diameter. Many children with severe myopia tend to show a clear elongation of the eyeball axis that can be seen with the naked eye, the eyes are much larger.
Correct understanding of myopia and how to effectively control myopia
This condition is usually corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. Myopia cannot be treated simply by eating carrots, no matter how much you eat.
