Bride Wears So Much Gold at Her Wedding That She’s “Suffo.cating” – The Truth Behind the Story is Surprising

A wedding photo from Foshan, Guangdong (China) has drawn widespread attention after a bride was seen wearing so much gold that it nearly covered her entire face.

In many regions of China, parents traditionally prepare a large amount of gold and silver as dowry for their daughters when they get married. The more gold a bride wears on her wedding day, the more it signifies her parents’ love and support, as well as her elevated status in her new home, helping her avoid being looked down upon.

However, an image of a bride in Foshan, Guangdong, covered in gold from head to toe, quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion.

From the photo, it appears that the gold jewelry almost completely obscures her face, leading many to wonder if she was struggling to breathe under all that weight. Some speculated that she must have incredible stamina to carry such a heavy load while walking around during the wedding ceremony. Others even guessed that she must come from an extraordinarily wealthy family.

After all the buzz, it turned out that the viral image was a photoshopped creation. However, even in the original photos, the bride's natural beauty was evident, and she was indeed adorned with an impressive amount of gold.

Speaking to the media, the bride revealed that she wore a total of 60 gold necklaces on her wedding day. While she was overjoyed, she admitted that carrying so much gold made it exhausting to move around and greet guests during the banquet.

According to locals, giving gold as a wedding gift is a long-standing tradition in Foshan, Guangdong. These gold ornaments are not considered part of the dowry but rather gifts from family and friends to congratulate the newlyweds. Since red envelopes (monetary gifts) are not customary at weddings in this region, relatives usually present gold jewelry instead.
