The type of water that star fruit trees like best
There are two main types of star fruit trees: sweet star fruit and sour star fruit. Of these, people often prefer to grow sweet star fruit more. Star fruit trees are grown both for decoration, shade, and fruit. In addition, in feng shui, star fruit trees are also a type of tree with good meaning.
When planting star fruit, if you want the tree to produce a lot of fruit, you need to pay attention to the following things.
Soil for growing star fruit trees
Star fruit trees should be planted in soil that is rich in humus, loose, and well-drained. You can plant the tree in a pot or in the ground. If planting in the ground, you should choose an airy place so that the tree has space to grow.
Temperatures from 22-25 degrees Celsius are the most suitable time to plant star fruit trees. This tree does not like too much light, so star fruit can be planted in gardens with tall trees or planted under climbing plants to block out the harsh sunlight.
Watering properly
Star fruit trees are inherently moisture-loving plants, so they need to be watered regularly. In the early stages of planting, you can water the tree twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Especially, in sunny weather, you must pay attention to providing enough water for the tree. After about 3 months of planting, you can reduce the amount of water to avoid flooding and waterlogging of the roots. In the rainy season, you should reduce the amount of water.
To help the star fruit tree produce many fruits and have sweet fruits, you can dilute urea with water to water the tree. This is an important step to stimulate the tree to produce many fruits. After about 50 days, the tree will flower and bear fruit.
In addition, occasionally watering the tree with rice water also helps provide more nutrients for the tree to grow well.
Fertilizing the tree
According to folk experience, to help the star fruit produce many fruits and have sweet ripe fruits, you can use organic fertilizers such as eggshells, decomposed manure, and animal carcasses. Bury these things at the base to provide nutrients for the tree.
During the fruiting stage, do not fertilize with nitrogen. At this time, you should fertilize with potassium, wood ash, and lime powder to improve the quality of the star fruit tree. Fertilizing helps the tree produce more fruit, bigger and sweeter fruit.
You can fertilize the tree with decomposed organic fertilizer at least twice a year. Every 2 months, fertilize the tree with bat manure once.
Pruning and pinching the top
The star fruit tree has a canopy that can grow quite thick and wide, so it needs to be pruned to make the tree airy and get more light. Pruning weak branches, thin branches, and diseased branches also helps the tree produce more flowers and fruit.
The ideal time to prune branches is before the tree flowers and after harvesting the fruit.
In addition, before the tree flowers, you can pinch the top of the star fruit tree and stop watering for 2-3 days. This will promote the star fruit tree to produce more flowers.
