Woman Develops Skin Ulcers After 20 Years of Eating Only Boiled Food
Avoiding All Fats for Two Decades, Her Condition Mysteriously Vanished After Reintroducing Oil into Her Diet

A woman who avoided all oily foods and ate only boiled meals for 20 years developed unexplained skin ulcers. Surprisingly, her condition began to heal once she started consuming fat again.

Dr. Tsung Yen-Jen, a specialist in family medicine and weight management from Taiwan (China), shared the unusual case of a patient from the United States. Out of fear of fat and oil, the woman had consumed only boiled foods for two decades. She completely avoided any food containing fat or oil. However, one day, her skin began to develop ulcers. Despite consulting various doctors and undergoing skin biopsies, the cause remained undiagnosed.

“The human body needs fat—fat is not necessarily harmful,” said Dr. Tsung. After the patient was encouraged to try eating pork belly (which contains fat), her skin condition began to improve remarkably—within just one week.

To confirm whether the improvement was truly linked to her diet, the patient reverted to her fat-free regimen. Almost immediately, the skin ulcers returned. When she resumed eating oily foods, the symptoms improved once again.

Dr. Tsung explained further that high-quality protein and good fats are among the most commonly deficient nutrients in modern diets. Inadequate intake can lead to deficiencies in amino acids and essential fatty acids. He emphasized that any natural, whole-source protein—such as pork, fish, duck, or soy—contains both quality protein and healthy fats.

“There’s no such thing as a universal superfood,” he added. “As long as a food suits your body and supports your health, it’s a good food.”
