Tips to clean burnt pan in 3 minutes

With just this small trick, even burnt pots and blackened pans can be cleaned spotless in 3 minutes using simple ingredients already available in your kitchen.

Burnt pots and scorched pans are common "accidents" for those who cook regularly. Despite trying many methods like soaking in hot water, using steel scrubbers, or strong detergents, stubborn burnt layers often remain stuck, making many people frustrated. However, a small trick shared on The Kitchn website is being called a "miracle" that cleans burnt pans in just 3 minutes – quick, effective, and safe.

What you need:

  • 2–3 tablespoons of baking soda

  • Clean water

  • A piece of aluminum foil (rolled into a ball)

How to do it:

Sprinkle baking soda over the burnt area, then add a little water to form a thick paste. Use the rolled-up aluminum foil to gently scrub the burnt spot in circular or back-and-forth motions. Afterwards, rinse with warm soapy water and you’re done.

According to Ashley Poskin – who tested and shared this trick – the special thing is you don’t need to scrub hard like with steel wool; just gentle but consistent rubbing is enough.

She also advises that if the baking soda changes color too soon, replace it with a fresh layer to continue cleaning effectively. Among the 5 methods tested, this one is the easiest to do, requires less effort, and gives the best spotless results.

Ashley concludes: "Pots and pans cleaned this way look like they are brand new. Everyone should try it – simple but surprisingly effective!"
