3 Foods That Should Never Be Eaten with Eggs

Eggs are a staple in many diets, loved for their high protein content and versatility. However, not all food pairings with eggs are safe. Some combinations may interfere with digestion, reduce nutrient absorption, or even lead to harmful reactions in the body. Here are three foods that experts recommend never eating with eggs:

1. Soy Milk

Combining eggs with soy milk, especially at breakfast, is a common mistake. Both are protein-rich, but soy contains compounds that can inhibit the body's ability to absorb protein from eggs. This reduces the nutritional value of both foods. For better digestion and nutrient absorption, enjoy them separately.

2. Sugar or Sweets

Many people like to add sugar when cooking egg-based desserts or dishes. However, heating eggs with sugar can produce a compound called glycosyl lysine, which is difficult to digest and may strain your liver in the long run. For sweet dishes, use eggs carefully and avoid high temperatures with added sugar.

3. Tea

Drinking tea right after eating eggs might seem harmless, but the tannic acid in tea can react with egg proteins to form compounds that are hard to digest. This may lead to bloating, constipation, or discomfort. If you enjoy tea, wait at least 30–60 minutes after eating eggs.
