8 Can.cer Cases Detected in Just 3 Days During Screening: Oncology Director Issues Warning

A recent cancer screening program at a major hospital in Vietnam has raised concern after doctors discovered eight cancer cases in just three days.

According to information from Bach Mai Hospital, doctors at the Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Center detected eight patients with cancer between March 10 and March 12, 2026 during routine health screenings.

The findings highlight an important message from medical experts: cancer can develop silently and may affect younger people more often than many expect.

Many Cases Were Breast Cancer — Including Very Young Patients

Among the eight patients diagnosed during the screening program, five were found to have breast cancer. Some of the patients were surprisingly young, including women aged 28 and 31.

This has raised concerns among doctors about the increasing trend of cancer appearing in younger age groups, particularly breast cancer.

Statistics show that breast cancer is currently one of the most common cancers among women, with more than 24,000 new cases recorded each year in Vietnam.

Many Patients Had No Symptoms

One notable point in the screening results is that most of the patients had no obvious symptoms before being diagnosed.

Many of them visited the hospital simply for routine health checks or preventive cancer screening. They did not experience pain, lumps, or other noticeable signs of illness.

Doctors say this demonstrates how cancer can quietly develop in the body for a long time without causing noticeable symptoms.

Modern Screening Technology Helps Detect Cancer Early

During the screening process, doctors used several diagnostic methods, including clinical examinations, breast ultrasound, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

These modern techniques allow doctors to detect very small abnormalities or tumors at an early stage, even before the disease causes symptoms.

Early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes.

According to oncology specialists, when breast cancer is diagnosed in its early stages, the five-year survival rate can exceed 90 percent.

Doctors Emphasize the Importance of Regular Health Checks

Experts stress that routine health examinations and cancer screening play a crucial role in detecting the disease early.

If people wait until symptoms such as pain, lumps, or noticeable changes appear before visiting a doctor, the cancer may already have progressed to a later stage, making treatment more difficult.

Doctors therefore encourage individuals—especially those with a family history of cancer or other risk factors—to schedule regular health screenings and remain proactive about their health.

Early detection, they emphasize, can make a life-saving difference.
