Garlic Butter Steak & Shrimp

Serves: 2–3

Ingredients

For the Steak

  • 400–500 g beef steak (sirloin, ribeye, or tenderloin), cut into large cubes

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Shrimp

  • 300 g large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on optional)

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley or thyme, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • Optional: chili flakes (to taste)


Instructions

1. Prepare the Steak

  • Pat the steak cubes dry with paper towels.

  • Season evenly with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.

  • Heat a heavy skillet (cast iron preferred) over high heat and add olive oil.

  • Sear the steak cubes for 2–3 minutes per side until well browned and cooked to your preferred doneness.

  • Remove steak from the pan and set aside.

2. Cook the Shrimp

  • In the same skillet (do not clean it), reduce heat to medium.

  • Add shrimp, season lightly with salt and pepper.

  • Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and slightly caramelized.

  • Remove shrimp and set aside with the steak.

3. Make the Garlic Butter

  • Lower heat to medium-low.

  • Add butter to the skillet and let it melt gently.

  • Add minced garlic and sauté for 30–45 seconds until fragrant (do not burn).

  • Stir in chopped herbs, lemon juice, and chili flakes if using.

4. Combine & Finish

  • Return steak and shrimp to the skillet.

  • Toss gently in the garlic butter sauce for 1–2 minutes, coating everything evenly.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.


Serving Suggestions

  • Serve immediately with:

    • Roasted potatoes

    • Mashed potatoes

    • Steamed vegetables

    • Crusty bread or garlic bread

  • Garnish with extra fresh herbs and a lemon wedge.

  • Always let steak rest for a few minutes before serving if cooked separately.

  • Do not overcook shrimp—they should be tender and juicy.

  • Use fresh herbs for the best aroma and flavor.
