Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

For the Fried Mushrooms

  • 300 g button mushrooms or cremini mushrooms

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko recommended for extra crunch)

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • Vegetable oil, for deep frying

For the Creamy Herb Dip

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • ½ teaspoon dried dill (or 1 teaspoon fresh dill, chopped)

  • 1 small garlic clove, minced

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

1. Prepare the Mushrooms

  • Clean the mushrooms gently with a damp paper towel.

  • Trim the stems if needed and cut large mushrooms in half.

  • Pat completely dry to help the coating stick better.

2. Set Up the Breading Station

  • Bowl 1: Add flour.

  • Bowl 2: Whisk eggs with milk until smooth.

  • Bowl 3: Mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

3. Bread the Mushrooms

  • Coat mushrooms lightly in flour, shaking off excess.

  • Dip into the egg mixture, ensuring full coverage.

  • Roll in seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing gently so crumbs adhere well.

  • Place on a plate and rest for 5–10 minutes to set the coating.

4. Fry the Mushrooms

  • Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet to 175–180°C (350°F).

  • Fry mushrooms in small batches for 2–3 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and crispy.

  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  • Lightly sprinkle with salt while hot.


5. Make the Creamy Herb Dip

  • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, parsley, dill, garlic, and lemon juice.

  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  • Chill for 10 minutes for best flavor.


Serving Suggestions

  • Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley and a light sprinkle of grated Parmesan if desired.

  • Pair with lemon wedges for extra freshness.
