Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich

Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich
Ingredients (serves 2–3):
-
3–4 plain or everything bagels
-
200–250 g smoked salmon slices
-
150 g cream cheese, softened
-
½ small red onion, thinly sliced
-
1 cup fresh lettuce or arugula
-
1 tablespoon capers (optional)
-
1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, finely chopped
-
Black sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional)
-
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
-
Lemon wedges (optional)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the bagels
Slice the bagels in half horizontally. Toast lightly until just golden on the cut side, keeping the inside soft. -
Spread the cream cheese
While the bagels are still warm, spread a generous layer of cream cheese on both halves. -
Add the greens
Place lettuce or arugula on the bottom half of each bagel to create a fresh base. -
Layer the salmon
Gently fold the smoked salmon slices and layer them over the greens for a fuller texture. -
Add toppings
Scatter red onion slices and capers (if using) over the salmon. Sprinkle with chopped dill or parsley and a little black pepper. -
Finish and assemble
Add a few drops of lemon juice if desired. Close with the top half of the bagel. Optionally sprinkle sesame seeds on top for extra flavor. -
Serve
Serve immediately while the bagel is slightly warm and the filling is fresh.
Tips:
-
Do not over-toast the bagel, as it should stay soft to balance the smoked salmon.
-
Cream cheese can be mixed with a little lemon zest for extra brightness.
-
Best enjoyed fresh, without reheating.
